The second project year

We want to introduce from Finland

1. Joroinen- our municipality.

–         Municipality of manors.

– Joroinen has a lot of manors. They are the old officers’ homes.
– Municipal coat of arms of the bull reflects the industry of agriculture and the human nature of willpower.
-The municipality is located in Lakeland Finland and the proximity of the lakes is an important part of the landscape

1. Savonlinna –town from East.

Old castle can tell you many interesting  stories.

– Town of Savonlinna located 80 km east of Joroinen.
– Savonlinna has an old castle, called Olavinlinna. It is in rocky island surrounded by water.
-Olavinlinna was built in the Middle Ages, the Swedish-Finnish and Russian border. The castle was defended enemy military attack.

1. Turku –town from west

– The story of castle´s elf

–         Turku, located by the sea 400 km southwest of Joroinen

–         Turku is Finland’s oldest city

–         Also Turku has an old castle, Turunlinna.

–         Finnish author Zacharias Topelius  has written children’s fairy tail  of castle´s elf.

1. Lapland – piece of north

–         Land of reindeers and northern lights

–         Lapland is the northern part of Finland. The northern polar circle is in Lapland. It´s about 600 km from Joroinen to northern polar circle.

–         Nature in Lapland is very beautiful.

–         Santa Claus lives in Lapland.

We had first Comenius-meeting in Germany in October 2008. Two teachers and three students took part in it. Here is some pictures from meeting:

Koulumme on pieni Kaitaisten kylällä toimiva kyläkoulu. Koulu on toiminut kylällä jo vuodesta 1892. Koulussa on 37 oppilasta, esikoululaisista kuudesluokkalaisiin. Koulun yhteydessä toimii ryhmäperhepäivähoito sekä iltapäivätoiminta. Koulussamme on kolme opettajaa, kounkäyntiavustaja sekä koulutyöntekijä.

Olemme mukana toista vuotta kansainvälisessä Comenius-hankkeessa. Viime vuonna seikkailimme Joroisten kartanoissa satusankarimme TomTomin mukana. Tänä vuonna tutustumme Suomen nähtävyyksiin. Marraskuussa saamme vieraita muista hankkeessa mukana olevista maista.

Our school is a small school in the village of Kaitainen. The school has been in this village since 1892. We have 37 students, from preschoolers to 6th grades. In the same building is kindergarten and ”afternoon club”. We have three teachers, achool assistent and cooker-cleaner.

We have been two years in international Comenius-project. Last year our hero TomTom adventured in estates of Joroinen. In this year we will tell about Finnish sights. In Nowember we get visitors from other Comenius countries.
